At the AKT Foundation, we believe no family should go without the basic household necessities that make a house feel like a home. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Central Pennsylvania, our mission is to serve local families living in extreme poverty and those impacted by domestic violence—providing comfort, dignity, and support during life’s most challenging moments.

Essential Household Support

Through the generosity of our community, we collect and redistribute essential items to families in need. These items include:

	Furniture and Home Goods –	We provide essential furnishings—like beds, dressers, and tables—for families rebuilding their lives.
	Clothing and Toiletries –	Clean and gently used seasonal clothing and hygiene items ensure families stay clean, warm, and cared for.
	Holiday and Seasonal Programs –	From Christmas presents to Easter baskets, we help families celebrate life’s special moments.

Every item donated helps restore dignity and bring stability to someone’s life.

Community Programs

We offer seasonal programs throughout the year that bring hope and joy to families who need it most.

	Christmas Assistance Program –	Each December, we make the holidays brighter for local children. In 2024 alone, we helped over 200 families provide Christmas presents for their kids—turning wishes into reality and easing the burden for parents.
	Purse Project –	We collect gently used purses, fill them with feminine products and toiletries, and distribute them to women in crisis. It’s a small gesture with a big impact—offering dignity, self-care, and compassion.
	Easter Support Program –	Easter should be a time of celebration and joy. Our Easter program helps families celebrate by providing baskets, treats, and essentials to make the holiday special for children and parents alike. We help families celebrate Easter with baskets and seasonal support, giving joy to local children.

Monetary Donation

Local residents donate essential items they no longer need, and the AKT Foundation sorts and organizes these donations for redistribution. In turn, families in need receive the support they require, exactly when they need it most.

Everything we do is made possible by YOU. Through generous donations and fun community events, we raise funds to keep giving back.

Soup Cook Off

The Soup Cook Off is held twice a year and is our biggest fund raiser.

The Great Bake Off

This sweet event is held in December and is part of our Chirstmas Program toy drive.
